Job summary

Paw Paw Public School District is seeking a Custodian for the High School on the second shift. This Full Time/Non-Exempt position reports to the Director of Facilities and Custodial Supervisor and starts at $17.31 per hour, with benefits per PPEPSA.

The custodian will perform cleaning, ground maintenance, and assist the public, staff, and students with a courteous, proactive approach. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent or experience as a custodian.
• Excellent work ethic and attendance record.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning in an efficient and effective manner.
• Schedule time to perform all cleaning necessary in designated area without direct supervision.
• Work effectively in a team atmosphere.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Develop and maintain excellent rapport with the public, staff, and students.
• Ability to read and understand product labeling.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
• Assist in maintaining seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn, landscaping beds, etc.).
• Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment etc. in the building as assigned by the supervisor.
• Restock disposable items and provide lead custodian with inventory usage and data.
• Assist the visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within building and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment.
• Maintain building and grounds security in the building each school day.
• Identify and report uncleaned areas and safety concerns.
• Assist coworkers as needed.
• Report work-related problems to lead custodian or custodial/maintenance director.
• Additional duties as assigned
