Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a custodial worker responsible for sanitizing and maintaining school facilities, including floors, restrooms, windows, and outdoor walkways. The role requires moving furniture, basic equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols.

Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work in school environments, and attend required trainings post-employment. Training will be provided by WCPSS.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard custodial methods and cleaning procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Clear communication in written and verbal form.

Responsibilities

• Ensure school/facility is sanitized, cleaned, and maintained (floors, restrooms, waste disposal, windows).
• Move and arrange furniture as needed.
• Perform minor/preventative maintenance on custodial equipment; report repairs and safety concerns to supervisor.
• Open/secure buildings at start/end of workdays; control lights as scheduled.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and inclement weather calls.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
