Job summary

Nutley High School is seeking a Custodian to perform general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds. The role supervises under the Principal, Director of Facilities, and Business Manager, ensuring equipment stays functional and areas are clean for students, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities include securing the building at shifts, operating cleaning equipment, performing grounds work, and assisting during special events. Occasional travel between schools may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to perform duties.
• Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable.
• MV license or ability to provide own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Check and secure building at shift start and end for safety and cleanliness.
• Clean rooms, halls, restrooms, and other areas per district standards.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as mops, buffers, and waxers.
• Replace light bulbs and set up/break down furniture for events.
• Assist with deliveries, snow removal, and grounds maintenance.
• Follow safety rules and protect health with proper PPE.
