Job summary

Vance County Schools Central Office - BOE in Henderson, NC seeks an Electrician I to perform semi-skilled electrical tasks and help maintain a safe environment for students and staff. Reports to Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Maintenance; terms of employment are permanent, 12-month position.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination, a valid North Carolina driver's license and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalents.
• 5 years job experience related to nature of work, and or
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience
• Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
• Must maintain a safe driving record
• Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards associated with job

Responsibilities

• Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splices wires as required.
• Checks and replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, tubes, and ballasts.
• Inspects and tests electrical lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.
• Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
• Measures, cuts, threads, and installs electrical conduit.
• Pulls wiring through conduit.
• Prepare work orders
• Assist other trades when needed
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
