Job summary

TN School for the Deaf (TSDK) is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist in preparing and serving meals in the residential dining hall. You will maintain a clean, efficient, and welcoming food service environment, and help with food prep and packing for dorms and special events.

Responsibilities include setting up dining areas, assisting cooks, ensuring sanitation, restocking supplies, and supporting campus events. Candidates must pass comprehensive background checks related to school employment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Basic understanding of commercial kitchen equipment and sanitation practices.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills to manage inventory, follow recipes, and organize deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Food Service & Dining Setup: prepare dining area, fill ice machines, set out milk, juice, and fruit.
• Kitchen Assistance: assist cooks with daily food prep and pack food for dorm meals and events.
• Sanitation & Cleanup: clean serving, dining, and kitchen areas; dispose of garbage daily.
• Restocking & Inventory: replenish napkins and utensils; assist with incoming deliveries.
• Event Support: provide support for campus events; occasional overtime.
