Job summary

Elior School Dining is seeking a seasoned General Manager in IL & WI to lead school dining operations and oversee all aspects of a department-wide food service program. You will manage accounts across IL & WI, travel between locations, and ensure meals meet NSLP guidelines while delivering high-quality service.

The role requires strong leadership, budgeting, and regulatory compliance knowledge, with frequent travel and overnight stays as needed.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience coordinating food service operations within multiple units.
• Experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication skills with hourly staff and company executives.
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with strong client/customer focus.
• Experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a motivated, effective general manager to our School Dining team in IL & WI. As a general manager, you will have the opportunity to lead a talented team of food service workers and manage all aspects of a food service department to ensure that students, faculty and clients never miss a meal.

This position requires frequent travel between accounts in IL & WI, other states as needed (with overnight stays).

What you'll be doing:

• Managing all functions of the food service department and its resources.
• Manage and lead a team of associates, including hiring and training new employees.
• Ensuring that staff meet all culinary, safety, and sanitation standards and regulations.
• Budgeting for the department, including directly purchasing ingredients and ensuring the account meets all targets and forecasts.
• Conferring with the district manager or other departments regarding the technical and administrative aspects of dining service.
• Addressing customer service needs.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

• At least five years of experience coordinating food service operations within multiple units
• Previous experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with both hourly staff and company executives.
• The ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services and satisfaction.
• Experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications.

Nice-to-haves:

• Previous experience in school dining under NSLP
• Previous experience in food service contract services
• ServSafe and/or HACCP certification

Compensation Range

Up to $85,000 depending on experience
