Job summary

The McKeesport Area School District is seeking dependable General Custodians to join the Facilities Department. You will maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors across school facilities.

Responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, floor care, and assisting with events and snow removal. The role requires physical capability and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Custodial or facilities experience preferred but not required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical duties.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff and the public.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling, dispose of waste.
• Disinfect restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Assist with cafeteria cleaning and setup/cleanup for meals and events.
• Clean windows and building surfaces.
• Secure facilities at shift end.
• Replace light bulbs and custodial supplies.
• Support floor maintenance tasks (stripping, recoating, waxing).
• Report maintenance concerns through work orders.
• Assist with event setup and cleanup.
• Assist with snow and ice removal as directed.
