Job summary

Family Life Academy Charter Schools is seeking a School Custodian in New York to provide custodial services, ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for students and staff. The role reports to the School Principal and Director of Facilities and School Safety, with an annual evaluation process conducted by leadership.

The position requires a high school diploma (facilities background preferred), physical fitness to lift 35+ lbs, and prior custodial experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma; continued education in facilities preferred but not required.
• Very good physical condition and ability to lift 35+ lbs.
• Attention to detail and reliability.
• Proven custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
• NYS fingerprint clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
• Move books, files, boxes, furniture as needed.
• Clean and sterilize high-use areas to reduce bacteria spread.
• Travel to nearby schools or storage as required.
• Perform building maintenance tasks (drywall, carpentry, lighting, painting, ceiling tiles, minor repairs).
• Attend meetings, trainings, and seminars as required.
• Maintain exterior of sites and handle snow/ice removal when needed.
• Carry handheld radio while on school property if assigned.
• Report emergencies and follow all laws and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
