Job summary

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a custodian to perform cleaning and custodial tasks across GCPS facilities according to the supervisor’s schedule, using approved chemicals and equipment, and keeping tools in safe, clean condition.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, preferred industrial or commercial cleaning experience, and the ability to understand and follow English instructions and work well as part of a team.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Industrial or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to learn and perform custodial care tasks.
• Ability to hear, understand, and follow oral instructions in English.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions in English at a minimum 6th grade level.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a custodial team.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned cleaning and other custodial care tasks as scheduled by supervisor.
• Utilize approved chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain custodial care tools and equipment in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
• Open and secure assigned facilities or grounds areas as instructed.
• Suggest alternate cleaning practices and assist in evaluations.
• Maintain positive working relationships with team members and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
