Job summary

West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science (WMAES) is seeking a dedicated custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment on 62 acres of outdoor classrooms.

You will be responsible for cleaning classrooms and common areas, maintaining HVAC controls, winter maintenance, safety checks, and coordinating with staff to ensure a productive learning space for all students.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a reliable punctuality record.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
• Demonstrate suitability for a diverse school community.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Sweeps or vacuums classrooms daily; dusts furniture.
• Cleans corridors daily as needed.
• Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning for comfortable temperatures.
• Shovels, plows, and salts sidewalks and entrances in winter.
• Checks exits and ensures doors are secure during occupancy.
• Raises and lowers the United States flag daily.
