Job summary

Lewiston Public Schools seeks a Custodian I for Montello Elementary School. This full-time role keeps the building in top operating condition, ensuring the educational program runs smoothly and safely.

The position offers a salary range of $17.92–$20.10 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid sick leave and holidays, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High school diploma or GED; prior custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operation/maintenance instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Performs seasonal grounds work (snow, lawn).
• Cleans and preserves designated spaces and equipment in the building.
• Restocks disposable items and provides inventory data to supervisor.
• Assists visitors with directions and setup of needed equipment.
• Maintains building and grounds security.
• During summer, moves furniture, strips and waxes floors, and returns furniture.
