Job summary

Foundation Academies in New Jersey seeks a full-time Custodian to maintain clean, safe classrooms and common areas across campuses. Shifts include evenings and weekends with opportunities to contribute to student safety and campus readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeterias, common areas, and exterior spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, wax, and maintain floors per schedules.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and keep supplies stocked.
• Empty trash and recycling; maintain hazard-free spaces.
• Operate custodial equipment and handle cleaning products safely.
• Set up and break down rooms for events and activities.
• Respond to urgent custodial needs and campus requests promptly.
• Report maintenance concerns to supervisors.
• Support seasonal deep-cleaning, emergency, and event needs.
• Collaborate with staff and facilities to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Follow safety protocols and confidentiality expectations.
