Job summary

Sumter School District is hiring a Building Service Worker (School Custodian) for Furman Middle School in Sumter, SC. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive educational facility, including classrooms, hallways, and exterior areas.

You will perform routine cleaning, minor repairs, door checks, and report major repairs to the principal, with a capability to lift 50 pounds. The position is full-time with an hourly wage between $13.50 and $21.59, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of maintenance experience.
• To provide a safe, attractive, clean and efficient educational facility.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Follow district policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times (classrooms, corridors, exterior areas).
• Checks exit doors and panic hardware during occupancy hours.
• Cleans rooms, disinfects toilets and fixtures, and cleans windows as needed.
• Washes windows inside and outside as necessary.
• Maintains clean floors and performs routine building repairs.
• Reports major repairs to the principal or designee and secures building at close.
