Job summary

Duties include cleaning classrooms, corridors, restrooms and common areas, monitoring heat, ventilation and lights, and securing doors and windows at opening and closing.

Applicants must be able to read and follow instructions and lift heavy objects as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to lift average to heavy weights, bend, stoop, reach and climb.

Responsibilities

• Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas.
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to maintain appropriate temperatures and energy efficiency.
• Checks daily that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts function during occupancy.
• Cleans classrooms daily: dusting furniture, cleaning chalkboards and trays, emptying trash cans.
• Cleans corridors after school and during the day as needed.
• Cleans and disinfects rest rooms daily and cleans sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
• Keeps all floors clean and well-preserved.
• Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
• Complies with local laws for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
• Reports immediately to the principal any property damage.
• Remains on premises during school hours and after-hours when required.
• Assumes responsibility for opening/closing the building daily and securing all doors/windows/gates.
• Monitors crosswalks as directed by supervisor.
• Assists substitute custodians in duties when needed.
• Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
