Job summary

Ozark R-VI School District is seeking a Custodian I to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff. This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Principal or Director of Custodial Services and requires ability to perform routine cleaning, safety procedures, and minor repairs.

Responsibilities include grounds upkeep, snow/ice management, and ensuring facilities meet district standards. Strong work ethic, reliability, and basic computer use preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to perform daily tasks with minimum supervision.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
• Ability to use basic power tools.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to read and write.
• Basic computer skills: send/receive email, use district HR program.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Keeps building and premises neat and clean at all times (sidewalks, driveways, grounds).
• Shovels, plows, and salts/sands walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
• Follows district cleanliness guidelines.
• Keeps grounds free of rubbish/trash.
• Performs yard keeping chores such as mowing and tree trimming.
• Makes minor repairs and reports major repairs.
• Reports any damage to school property.
• Opens/closes building as required.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed.
• Stores and disposes of trash according to procedures.
• Ensures safety procedures are followed by all employees.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
