Job summary

Webster County Schools is seeking a dedicated Custodian for Sebree Elementary. The role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming environment for students and staff in a full-time capacity.

The ideal candidate can work independently, follow safety protocols, and collaborate with staff to support school activities. Prior custodial experience is a plus, and flexibility to work evenings/weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Capable of passing a background check.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups.
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of school facilities.
• Handle waste disposal and recycling according to established procedures.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of school events, meetings, and activities.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or needs to the supervisor.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and students.
• Collaborate with other staff members to promote a positive school environment and address custodial concerns.
• Participate in training and professional development as required.
