Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a reliable School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties at a K-12 or higher education campus. The role involves cleaning classrooms, halls, restrooms, and common areas and requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Monday through Friday work is expected, with training provided to help you perform effectively. This position is ideal for individuals entering the workforce or returning after a break who want steady, entry-level work in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• No experience required and on the job training provided.
• No high school diploma, GED or college degree required.
• Prior customer service experience (preferred).
• One year of prior similar work experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain assigned area, which may include classrooms, hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, office, and stairways.
• Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors in designated areas.
• Regularly check trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all designated areas.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Notify lead cleaner or manager concerning the need for minor or major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with clients, co-workers, shift coordinators, supervisors, managers, etc.
• Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.
• Clean and dust desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, sills, floors, ceiling, and walls; polish woodwork and stainless steel surfaces.
• Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
• Maintain the cleanliness of restrooms (clean and polish as needed).
• Comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities.

Job description

We are looking for a reliable and experienced School Custodian to perform general cleaning duties in designated areas at a K-12 school, college or university campus environment. The Cleaner provides the cleaning and upkeep of an assigned area. Must be available to work Monday - Friday. Pay rate $12.00/hr. Seeking eager, positive, and self-motivated individual to join our team before our heavy summer schedule. Must be able to carry 50 lbs. Who can take direction well. We will be getting into top to bottom clean up. We will be able to train you on the knowledge you need to be successful.
