Job summary

Brevard County is seeking a Part-Time School Crossing Guard in the South Area (Viera/Suntree) to help ensure the safe crossing of school-age children at designated locations.

This entry-level role requires no formal education, but a valid background check and the Brevard County Performance Checklist must be completed. A home phone or cell phone is required, and disaster duties may be assigned when needed.

Qualifications

• No formal education, training, or experience is required.
• Experience as a crossing guard or other work with elementary school-age children is preferred.
• Must pass the Brevard County Performance Checklist for School Crossing Guards.
• Must have a working home telephone or personal cell phone.
• In case of hurricane or disaster, the employee will perform emergency duties as directed.

Responsibilities

• Safely and orderly cross school-age children at the assigned location.
• Perform entry-level protective service duties.
• Two hours daily (mornings and afternoons) on school days.

Compensation

$16.75 hourly. South Area/Viera - Suntree. Part-time/2 hours daily (mornings and afternoons) on school days. Performs entry-level protective service work ensuring the safe and orderly crossing of school-age children at his/her assigned location.

Requirements

• No formal education, training, or experience is required. Experience as a crossing guard or other work with elementary school-age children is preferred.
• Must be of good moral character as determined by a personal background investigation.
• Must be able to pass the Brevard County Performance Checklist for School Crossing Guards prior to assuming School Crossing Guard duties.
• Must have a working home telephone or personal cell phone.
• In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster, that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
