Job Goal
To regulate vehicular and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Ability to operate grounds equipment, such as weed eater and Z-turn mowers.
Performance Responsibilities
- Place school signs if necessary in the roadway at designated places near crossing points and remove them when no longer required.
- Regulate buses and other vehicular traffic and designated crossings.
- Control the children who use crossing to see that they obey traffic and safety regulations.
- Report all traffic hazards to the police.
- Report flagrant traffic violators and suspicious persons loitering in the school area.
- Contact school officials concerning children who do not cooperate in accomplishing safety objectives.
- Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.
- Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks, flower beds, and walls.
- Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs and bushes.
- Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks and others.
- Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.
- Perform routine maintenance duties.
- Sweep walkway of debris.
- Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
- Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping.
- Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
Inter/Intra-agency Communication and Delivery
- Establish and maintain continuous professional relationships with law enforcement agencies.
- Attend appropriate meetings.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, District and school personnel and the public.
- Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.

- Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, school personnel and the public.
- Follow attendance, punctuality and appropriate dress rules.

- Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
