Job summary

Baltimore County Public Schools is seeking a professional school counselor to promote student success through a comprehensive program addressing academic, career, and personal/social development. You will provide counseling services, collaborate with families and staff, and implement the ASCA-aligned model with data-driven planning.

The role requires a master’s degree in school counseling and current Maryland licensure.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in school counseling.
• Possession of a Maryland Educator Professional Certificate with School Counselor endorsement.
• Education, training, and experience as required by the Maryland Pathway to Initial Licensure for School Counselor.
• Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Professional License and School Counselor Licensure.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of school counseling; ASCA National Model; data analysis.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills; strong leadership and human relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists all students, individually or in small groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills; plans for college, career and life readiness.
• Provides individual and group counseling; collaborates with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators and community resources.
• Delivers services through the School Counseling Core Curriculum and Individual Student Planning; maintains program management and accountability.
• Develops and communicates the comprehensive school counseling program based on the ASCA National Model; uses school data for planning.
• Uses assessment procedures to determine and structure counseling services; monitors student performance and attendance.
• Collaborates with parents/educators to assist students with educational and career planning.
• Interprets and uses student data; prepares and presents reports; supports referral and follow-up processes.
• Maintains resources for stakeholders; conducts yearly program audits; measures outcomes.
