Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a licensed School Counselor to support student social-emotional learning by implementing a comprehensive counseling program addressing academic, career, and personal/social development for all students in Apex, NC.

The counselor will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote a positive school climate, provide preventive services, respond to identified student needs, and coordinate resources across the community.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling and NC licensure or eligibility.
• Five years of counseling experience in a public-school environment.
• Ability to apply federal, state and local policies relevant to school counseling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with school staff to promote a positive school climate and build relationships.
• Connects with families to bridge home-school communication regarding attendance and resources.
• Collaborates with teachers to support social-emotional learning in the classroom.
• Works with students individually or in small groups on study skills and organization.
• Responds to crises as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
