Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking a School Counselor to support student social-emotional learning, provide preventive services, and address academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.

The role collaborates with teachers and families, offers sessions with students in groups or individually, and responds to crises as needed. A NC School Counseling license and five years of public-school counseling experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling (required).
• Five years of counseling experience in a public-school environment (preferred).
• Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license with licensure in School Counseling.
• Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license per NC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with school staff to promote a positive school climate and build relationships.
• Connects with families to bridge home-school communication regarding attendance and resources.
• Collaborates with teachers to support social-emotional learning in the classroom.
• Works with students individually or in small groups on study skills and organization.
• Responds to crises as needed.
