Job summary

KIPP Atlanta Schools in Atlanta, GA is seeking a School Counselor to support scholars' academic and social-emotional development. You will deliver Tier 1–3 counseling, use data to target services, and collaborate with families, teachers, and leaders to improve attendance and school culture.

The role emphasizes ASCA-aligned practices, prevention and intervention supports, and collaboration across MTSS teams to reduce chronic absenteeism and strengthen student well-being.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, School Counseling, or a closely related field from a CACREP-accredited or regionally accredited institution.
• Valid Georgia Professional School Counselor certificate.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a school counselor.
• Demonstrated experience implementing tiered SEL/attendance interventions and partnering with families to remove barriers to attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted counseling for attendance risk factors with evidence-based strategies and progress monitoring.
• Lead counseling components of MTSS for Tier 2/3 and coordinate with AP Scholar Support, Deans, and MTSS Coordinator.
• Partner with families to identify root causes of attendance concerns and connect to resources.
• Analyze attendance data and maintain counseling documentation and logs; report outcomes to leadership.
• Deliver counseling services aligned to ASCA best practices and support re-entry after absences.
