Job summary

The Center for Disability Services in Queensbury, NY is seeking a School Counselor to join our team. This role follows the school calendar with a six-week summer session and focuses on comprehensive psychosocial services, IEP development, and behavior support within our Children Services Division.

The candidate will collaborate with administrators and staff to deliver high-quality services, ensure safety, and support families.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree (Master's) in field of Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences.
• NYS Licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
• Mental Health Counselor (MHC) Limited Permit working toward LMHC.
• Master Social Worker (MSW) working toward LMSW.
• Experience working with students with developmental, physical, neurological disorders, and Autism Spectrum disorders preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develops recommended annual individualized education plan (IEP) goals and objectives.
• Develops appropriate treatment plans based on a student’s IEPs.
• Provides comprehensive psychosocial services using methods appropriate to the student’s age and needs.
• Provides services as indicated on annual IEP.
• Documents student treatment outcomes correctly and contemporaneously.
• Implements classroom management and individual behavior intervention.
• Provides assistance during student/family crisis and/or suspected child abuse/neglect screening and reporting.
• Works collaboratively with program directors and interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality services to all students served and their families.
