Job summary

Qualifications

• NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 or Special Education Permanent.
• Master’s degree in Special Education.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently.
• Bachelor’s degree holders may commence teaching while completing the Master’s within five years (per NY policy).

Responsibilities

• Develop students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating IEP goals from all disciplines.
• Implements and monitors behavior and classroom management plans/techniques.
• Adhere to established daily schedule and adjust as needed.
• Maintain communication with classroom team, parents, and program directors regarding student performance.
• Reinforce appropriate student behavior using progressive discipline techniques.
• Establish clear expectations for students and staff and monitor compliance.

We are searching for a full-time Special Education Teacher - School Age to join our Prospect Center in Queensbury, NY!

Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing students’ Individualized Education Plans
• Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals/objectives from all disciplines of each student's IEP.
• Implements and monitors behavior and classroom management plans/techniques when necessary
• Develops and adheres to an established daily schedule making daily modifications/adjustments as required
• Maintains communication with classroom team, parents and program directors regarding students' performance
• Develops lesson plans incorporating the IEP goals and objectives for each student
• Reinforces appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques
• Establishes communicates and monitors clear expectations for both students and classroom staff

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Initial NYS Certification in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6 or Special Education Permanent
• Master’s degree in Special Education
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently
• This position requires a Master’s degree; however, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree may be hired initially, as New York State allows individuals with an Initial Certification to teach while completing their Master’s degree within a five-year timeframe.

Compensation Range: $64,470.45 - $73,379.53
