Job summary

Broken Hill High School is seeking a School Counsellor to provide counselling and psychological assessment for students, contributing to their learning and wellbeing outcomes. You will collaborate with teachers, families and external agencies to support diverse learners and plan interventions.

The role supports a NSW public school environment with regular supervision and professional development, including access to induction and ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with a demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
• Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse students.
• Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s licence and ability to travel between worksites.
• If not already, be eligible for teaching approval under NSW Department of Education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and enhance teachers’ work.
• Collaborate with families, teachers and external agencies to support student learning and wellbeing.
• Travel between worksites as required and participate in supervision and professional development.
