JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sales Operation Center Supervisor, this role is responsible for inspecting new buses when they are delivered to the Sales Operation Center and reworking and/or repairing damaged and/or misbuilt body parts and bodies of buses in accordance with factory specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Inspect buses to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, company standards, and customer requirements.
2. Inspect for obvious damage and missing major components.
3. Inspect for loose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
4. Inspect surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint.
5. Repair, replace and/or upgrade a variety of bus body parts.
6. Use welding, sanding and refinishing equipment to prepare buses for painting.
7. Use professional painting equipment to repaint prepared surfaces.
8. Perform repairs with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with factory standards.
9. Wash and polish exterior of vehicles.
10. Ensure repairs are properly documented.
11. Keep shop area neat and clean.
12. Maintain and be accountable for all Sales Operation Center owned paint equipment and tools.
13. Report any safety issues immediately to management.
14. Assist SOC Supervisor in staying abreast and compliant with all federal, state and local regulations associated with a body shop/paint operation.
15. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Highly knowledgeable about the body (exterior & interior) of buses and how to work on them using the best practices.
2. Strong technical background with expertise in school bus and/or medium duty vehicle applications.
3. Product familiarization for all sub-systems on school bus and/or medium duty vehicle products.
4. Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
6. Proven track record of working independently, following-through and solving problems quickly.
7. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
8. Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required, including weekends and evenings.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. 5+ years of body work experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
2. 5+ years of body paint experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
3. ASE Collision Repair or Refinishing Technician certification (Preferred).
4. Class B CDL w/School bus & Air Brake Endorsement, or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
5. 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite.
