JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sales Operation Center Supervisor, this role is responsible for inspecting new buses when they are delivered to the Sales Operation Center reworking and/or repairing damaged and/or misbuilt body parts and bodies of buses in accordance with factory specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect buses to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Inspects for obvious damage and missing major components.
  • Inspects for loose or misaligned items such as trim, doors, and hardware.
  • Inspects surfaces to detect minor chips and scratches in paint.
  • Repairs, replaces and/or upgrades a variety of bus body parts.
  • Uses welding, sanding and refinishing equipment to prepare buses for painting.
  • Uses professional painting equipment to repaint prepared surfaces.
  • Performs repairs with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with factory standards.
  • Washes and polishes exterior of vehicles.
  • Ensures repairs are properly documented.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all Sales Operation Center owned paint equipment and tools.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Assists SOC Supervisor in staying abreast and compliant with all federal, state and local regulations associated with a body shop / paint operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Highly knowledgeable about the body (exterior & interior) of buses and how to work on them using the best practices.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in school bus and/or medium duty vehicle applications.
  • Product familiarization for all sub-systems on school bus and/or medium duty vehicle products.
  • Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of working independently, following-through and solving problems quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours when required, including weekends and evenings.

BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5+ years of body work experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
  • 5+ years of body paint experience in the automotive, truck and/or bus industry.
  • ASE Collision Repair or Refinishing Technician certification (Preferred).
  • Class B CDL w/School bus & Air Brake Endorsement, or the ability to obtain first year of employment.
  • 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Office suite.
