Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor halls, escort students, support student conduct as directed by administration.
• Provide classroom support as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists on plans and resources for students.
• Implement IEP goals and accommodations to help student success.
• Support students in small groups, individually, or in whole-class settings.
• Assist in progress monitoring, data collection, and related computer tasks.
• Contribute to behavior management efforts and discipline as directed.
• Perform other duties to meet student needs.

• In order to meet the paraprofessional job qualifications, you must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Associate Degree or higher
  • Completion of 60 college credit hours with a ‘C' or better
  • Satisfactory test score of 459 on the ParaPro Assessment & official high school transcript or GED equivalency
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience working with children in varied settings; preferred
• Working knowledge of behavior management procedures; preferred
• Knowledge of accommodations for special education students; preferred
• Clean Criminal Background, Child Protective Registry Check, and TB test results required prior to employment

Responsibilities

• In addition to the typical para responsibilities, the school climate para will also assist administration with monitoring halls, escorting students, maintaining student code of conduct, and supporting high needs students.
• Provide classroom support when needed
• Utilize knowledge of the social, emotional, medical, and academic needs of individual students obtained through collaboration with teacher and/or specialist
• Collaborate with the teacher, paraprofessionals and/or related services providers about the plans and implementation of activities and resources for the students
• Understand and implement the student's IEP (Individual Education Program) goals and objectives, as well as any accommodations to ensure the student's success
• Work with students in variety of ways, which may include an individual, small group, or whole group settings
• Assist in ongoing monitoring of student progress which may include assessments, data collection and computer work
• Support in maintaining student discipline using behavior management plan as directed by classroom teacher
• Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students
