The City of Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation seeks a School Car Driver to transport students along assigned routes in Harrisonburg and nearby areas. This full-time role requires helping students board and exit safely, maintaining order, and communicating professionally during changing traffic conditions.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license; a CDL is not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and some experience operating passenger vehicles or dealing with the public.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• CDL is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, dependable transportation for students on an assigned route.
• Assist students as they board and exit the vehicle and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Respond professionally to changing traffic conditions and passenger needs.
• Complete pre-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns.
• Keep the vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for daily routes.
