Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a FOOD UNIT LEAD to coordinate activities of food-service staff and ensure a high-quality dining experience for students and staff. The role requires prior food service and cooking experience and offers a full-time schedule, typically 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM in University City, MO.

Responsibilities include supervising preparation and service, managing safety and sanitation, training staff, and handling daily reports and cash handling in a school dining setting.

Qualifications

• Previous food service and cooking experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities of other food-service employees to create an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff and visitors.
• Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items according to company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
• Ensures timely, efficient meal service and supervises serving of meals.
• Responds to customer complaints in person and via email for electronic complaints.
• Trains employees and coordinates work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
• Determines work procedures, prepares schedules and expedites workflow.
• Uses proper systems for required daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll, time-keeping).
• Maintains proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
• Directs sanitation and safety of the facility and employees; develops sanitation schedules.
• Issues written and oral instructions; assists in selecting and orienting employees; oversees staff training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
