Job summary

Focus School Software LLC is seeking a School Way Café team member to prepare and serve meals for Volusia County Schools. You will work 4 hours daily, 9 months, handling food prep, serving, sanitation, inventory, and basic bookkeeping with a friendly, patient approach.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, ServSafe Essentials, and a valid Florida driver’s license. The role requires teamwork, accuracy in math, and ability to work in hot environments.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred or able to read/write at functional level.
• Foundations, an Introduction to Volusia School Way Café and ServSafe Essentials certification during first year of employment.
• Possess a valid Florida or state driver’s license; willing to obtain Florida license within 30 days where required.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel and prepare fruits/vegetables for meals and salads.
• Bake bread, cookies, cakes and desserts as assigned.
• Set up trays and serve food on cafeteria line, with proper sanitation.
• Maintain equipment in sanitary condition and uphold storage standards.
• Assist with inventory and record keeping for food items.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and follow safety rules.
• Work as part of a team to meet district goals and standards.
• Operate a cash register and complete basic bookkeeping tasks.
• Use basic math for recipes, inventory, and reporting.
• Communicate clearly with students and staff in a noisy environment.
