Job summary

Volusia County Schools Palm Terrace is seeking a part-time Cafeteria Worker to prepare and serve meals for students, 4 hours per day for 9 months. You will work as part of the School Way Café team, performing prep, cooking, serving, and basic bookkeeping tasks while maintaining high sanitation standards.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, Foundations/ServSafe Essentials certification, and a Florida driver’s license, with the ability to work in a hot kitchen and communicate

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent; ability to read/write at a functional level.
• Completion of Foundations, an Introduction to Volusia School Way Café and ServSafe Essentials during first year.
• Possess a valid Florida or state-issued Driver's License or obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel and prepare fruits/vegetables; prepare meats; make salads, sandwiches, entrées and soups with sanitation records.
• Bake bread, rolls, cookies, cakes and desserts with sanitation records.
• Set up trays and serve food on cafeteria lines; assist with luncheons and dinners.
• Wash dishes, clean equipment, and maintain sanitation and storage areas.
• Maintain equipment in sanitary working condition.
• Check in and store stock; maintain inventory and sanitation records.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely; work as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Perform basic math for recipe prep and inventory reporting.
