Job summary

The Palmerton Area School District is seeking substitute cafeteria workers for the 2024-2025 school year. Hourly rate is $13/hour. To perform this job you will assist with food preparation, serving meals, and cleaning kitchen areas in school cafeterias.

Prior food service experience is helpful but not required. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 60 pounds, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation is expected.
• Ability to follow recipes and school cafeteria procedures.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 60 pounds.
• Flexible, patient, and professional demeanor; good communication with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow standardized recipes.
• Set up serving areas and serve meals.
• Clean and sanitize lunch tables and kitchen areas.
• Stock beverage and merchandising areas.
• Cashier duties may be required.
