Job summary

Chartwells K-12 in Junction City, KS is seeking a Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef and lead kitchen operations in a school dining program.

Ideal candidates have prior food service and bulk catering experience. The position offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with both full-time and part-time options. Pay ranges from $19.50 to $22.50 per hour and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Prior food service and bulk catering/large-volume catering experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates; scheduling, payroll, training and reviews.
• Stores food in designated areas following safety procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and workstation.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Explains daily menu items to associates and customers.
• Monitors peak production and service hours.
• Tracks inventory and deliveries; informs supervisor when supplies are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
