Job summary

San Marcos High School is seeking a Child Nutrition Assistant to support the school’s dining services. You will help prepare quantities of food per the menu, ensure safety and sanitation, and assist with inventory and cafeteria operations.

The role is full-time with 7-hour shifts, and requires understanding food preparation instructions and proper production techniques. Training and teamwork are essential, with a focus on serving nutritious meals at the campus cafeteria.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand instruction for food preparation and safety procedures.
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production.
• Understand and practice proper production techniques including batch cooking to provide high quality attractive food products.
• Experience in an institutional food service facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested uniform recipes.
• Supervise storage and care of food items and supplies; put groceries away on delivery.
• Maintain a clean, organized storage area including walk-in cooler and freezer.
• Monitor food temperatures and sanitation; keep work stations clean and sanitary.
• Care for and use equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Serve food according to meal schedules and department procedures.
• Assist in recording food requisitions and orders of supplies.
