Compass Group USA is hiring for a FOOD UNIT LEAD at Ferndale Public Schools, Ferndale, MI. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, with a 6:30 am–2:30 pm shift.

The role requires prior food service and leadership experience and offers a $250 stay bonus, staff meals, and shoes credit. Responsibilities include coordinating dining operations, supervising staff, ensuring quality service, and maintaining sanitation per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality customer service with one-on-one attention.
• Oversees preparation and service of food and beverages to standards.
• Ensures timely, efficient meal service and supervises serving.
• Trains employees and coordinates work for efficiency and excellence in food and service.
• Determines work procedures, prepares schedules, and expedites workflow.
• Manages daily/weekly/monthly reports (inventory, payroll, timekeeping).
• Handles cash as per Food Accounting Manual.
• Orders food and supplies from approved sources.
• Maintains sanitation and safety per company standards and regulations.
• Develops sanitation schedule and ensures cleaning of kitchen and dining areas.
• Issues written and oral instructions.
• Assists in selecting and orienting employees; staff training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
