Job summary

nsfm is seeking a Food Service Worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals in a friendly, efficient, and clean cafeteria setting. You will participate in meal prep, daily menus, serving lines, cash register work, and maintaining paperwork with attention to detail.

The role requires teamwork, basic food handling knowledge, and the ability to pass background checks for NJ schools. Some shift flexibility and physical tasks are involved.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills and a positive approach.
• Patience and the ability to maintain a caring attitude towards children.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to interact successfully with customers and Nutri-Serve employees.
• Knowledge of food preparation, a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of meals and the setup of the cafeteria.
• Checks with Kitchen Manager for daily preparation work assignments.
• Assists in the preparation of daily menus.
• Assists in the set up of napkins, serving utensils, student lunch trays and condiments.
• Sets up daily snacks on the cafeteria line.
• Assists in checking food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after verification.
• Assists in determining the amount of each food to be prepared daily.
• Serves students nutritious, attractive meals in a friendly manner.
• Works on a rotating basis in kitchen and on the register.
• Serves food using appropriate portion sizes as directed by the production sheet.
• Promotes a friendly atmosphere for customers via good service.
• Keeps the cafeteria clean and performs housekeeping duties.
• Replenishes serving lines between lunch periods.
