Job summary

Prairie School Inc is seeking a part-time Food Service Assistant/Food Prep to support daily school meals. You will assist with basic food preparation, portioning, serving meals, and maintaining clean serving and dining areas. This role requires a friendly, service-oriented demeanor and the ability to work with students and staff in a fast-paced school environment; previous kitchen experience is preferred.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior food service or food preparation experience preferred.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor when interacting with students and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Experience working in a school setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food service operations, including basic food preparation, portioning and serving meals.
• Set up serving areas, maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas, and properly store food and supplies.
• Wash dishes, clean food-preparation equipment and utensils, and assist with other tasks as needed.
