Job summary

Mount Vernon ISD Food Services in Mount Vernon, TX is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist in daily meal preparation and serving according to planned menus. This nonexempt position reports to the Cafeteria Manager and involves standing for long periods in a busy kitchen.

You will follow safety and sanitation standards, operate kitchen equipment, keep records, and support teamwork. A high school or trade school degree is preferred; citizenship or work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand written and verbal food prep and safety instructions.
• Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested recipes.
• Serve food according to meal schedules and promote portion control.
• Store and handle items safely and maintain a clean storage area.
• Operate safety standards and keep areas sanitary; report unsafe conditions.
• Record cashier functions, food requisitions, and daily prep records.
