Job summary

Stockton Unified School District is seeking a Food Service Assistant I/II/III to support school nutrition programs across district sites. The role includes food preparation, serving meals, and maintaining sanitation standards in satellite, elementary, or central kitchen facilities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, six months of food service experience, and a California Food Handlers Permit.

Qualifications

• Basic quantity food preparation including washing, cutting and assembling food items and ingredients.
• Sanitation and safety practices related to preparing, handling, and serving food.
• Standard kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Interpersonal communication skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
• Proper lifting techniques.
• Basic math and cashiering skills.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Basic record-keeping techniques

Responsibilities

• Assist in quantity preparation and serving of foods at an assigned school site, assemble ingredients and portions according to standards.
• Heat, package and wrap food items; portion control and serve meals on serving lines.
• Maintain food service facilities, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Clean serving counters, tables, chairs and other equipment; sweep and mop floors.
• Operate a computer for cashiering and POS duties; record meal counts and sales.
• Complete and maintain production records, transport records and inventories as directed.
• Train and provide guidance to other food service staff as needed.
• Follow health and sanitation requirements and communicate with students, staff and parents when needed.
