Job summary

Wayne County School District in Monticello, KY is seeking two Food Service Assistants to support school meal programs and cashiering. Duties include setting up serving areas, portioning and serving food, and maintaining sanitary facilities.

Starting pay is $13.37 per hour for full-time roles. Completion of Kentucky training for beginning school food service personnel is required; duties include cash handling and customer service for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: high school diploma, GED or progress toward GED as required by Kentucky law.
• Must complete training course for certification of beginning school food service personnel as prescribed in 702 KAR 6:045.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
• Basic math and cashiering skills.
• Sanitation practices related to handling and serving food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food service facilities for serving; set out trays; prepare steam table for serving hot meals.
• Wash and prepare eating and serving areas; set out food, trays and beverages.
• Maintain clean, sanitary and safe work areas; wash counters, steam tables, pots and kitchen equipment.
• Heat, portion and serve food to students and staff according to procedures.
• Count money and operate cash register; handle tickets and change.
• Assist in storing unused food and disposing of leftovers and garbage.
• Operate common kitchen equipment; report faulty equipment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
