Job summary

Mansfield City Schools District in Mansfield, OH is seeking a Floating 4-Hour General Food Service Help for the 2025-2026 school year. This role supports cafeteria operations, prepares equipment and foods for service, serves meals, and assists with cleanup during a 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM shift.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 50 pounds with help, knowledge of safe food handling, and flexibility to work early or stay late as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass basic skills and math tests.
• One year school food service experience preferred.
• Experience with standardized kitchen equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of Federal School Lunch/Breakfast rules preferred.
• Familiarity with standardized weights and measures preferred.
• Ability to extend recipes appropriately.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to stand 4+ hours, lift up to 25 lbs alone, 50 lbs with help.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Flexible to come in early or stay late as needed.
• As of 2016, valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cafeteria duties to prepare equipment and foods for service.
• Serve foods and assist with post-meal cleanup.
• Set up serving line and reflect the current menu.
• Wipe counters/tables and replenish items as needed.
• Assist in dish room to complete cleaning tasks.
• Expedite workflow in kitchen and cafeteria as needed.
• Communicate with kitchen/managers and staff to meet district needs.
• Participate in ongoing self-improvement and in-service training.
