Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Merrillville is seeking a part-time cafeteria worker to support lunch service and keep the dish room clean. This role requires daily weekday hours with an early start and a focus on safety and efficiency in a school environment.

You will operate the dish machine, maintain logs, and work with the Cafeteria Manager on daily tasks. Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required.

Qualifications

• Good communication with students, staff, and the public.
• Ability to read and write clearly.
• Willing to learn the POS system and cafeteria procedures.
• Must be able to push, pull or lift items weighing at least 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the dish machine and maintain logs.
• Keep all dish room areas clean and organized daily.
• Break down and clean the dish machine after lunch.
• Clean all sinks and hand sinks in the dish room daily.
• Delime the dish machine and conveyor belts on Fridays.
• Sweep and mop dish room areas daily and ensure dishes are put away.
• Occasionally come in early and perform additional duties as assigned.
