Job summary

Red Rabbit is seeking a Cafe Chef to lead day-to-day food service operations at an assigned school kitchen. The role reports to the District Manager and focuses on timely, quality meals served with dignity to students.

Ideal candidates are self-directed with culinary and kitchen expediting experience, comfortable handling administrative tasks, and collaborating with school partners while upholding Red Rabbit’s standards for food quality, presentation, service, and compliance.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years in operational or admin role supporting cross-functional teams.
• 1+ year in a customer-facing role preferred.
• Ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple projects.
• Experience with schools or food service is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and mission-driven mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
• Passion for improving nutrition in schools with a social justice lens.
• Food Handler Certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engage with the students to provide a positive experience.
• Maintain a clean, presentable service line with dignity.
• Elevate cafeteria experiences using base kitchen menus.
• Ensure meals are served on time with compliant portions.
• Coordinate meal readiness, staging, and service flow.
• Share information between teams to maintain smooth operations.
• Identify and resolve conflicts to maintain workflow.
• Maintain systems and data accuracy for meal compliance.
• Create accountability checks for data management.
• Address day-of concerns with school partners and inform leadership.
• Collaborate with kitchen team on day-to-day issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
