Job summary

Whitehall City School District Rosemore Middle School in Columbus, Ohio seeks a Food Service Assistant Cook to support the safe, sanitary preparation and service of school meals. The role reports to the Director of Nutrition and Food Services and requires a background check and compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Hours are 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM in this 5-hour position; the job supports meals programs and district operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check (BCI/FBI) required.
• Commitment to food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely.
• Lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks in food service.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, and the public.
• Serv Safe/PIC training, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and service of meals in accordance with district menus and USDA guidelines.
• Maintain sanitation standards consistent with local health department requirements.
• Operate food service equipment and point-of-sale systems.
• Handle and account for funds in accordance with Treasurer procedures and internal controls.
• Support compliance with free and reduced meal program procedures.
• Maintain professional appearance and hygiene consistent with food service regulations.
• Support the vision of students in cafeteria areas.
• Complete all required tasks utilizing district technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the position.
