Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a cafeteria assistant to support food service operations in a school dining environment. You will help prepare food portions, serve meals at the cafeteria counter, and assist with cleaning duties to maintain a neat, sanitary dining area.

The role involves daily interaction with students and staff, including handling money from lunch accounts and performing related meal-time tasks as needed. Ten, eleven, or twelve month employment terms apply as established by the Board.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (may be waived by the building principal).
• Strong work ethic.
• Ability to work with students and staff on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation of food portions and prepares cafeteria counter.
• Serves students and staff from the cafeteria counter when necessary.
• Removes used dishes and assists in the cleaning of counters, tables and furnishings in the dining area.
• Maintains the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
• Performs related duties as required including duties at special meal functions.
• Authorizes the deductions of money from individual lunch accounts.
