Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a School Business Analyst to manage student activity funds, payroll data, and accounting processes at multiple school sites in Kansas City, MO. The role requires strong bookkeeping skills and familiarity with ALIO Financial Management.

Responsibilities include cash handling, bank reconciliations, and producing financial reports for the Business Services department. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits and a starting hourly wage of $22.15.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or 6 hours of college-level Accounting with 3 years bookkeeping experience.
  • Two years experience with computerized business software; proficiency with Windows, Excel, Access, Word, etc.
  • Proficiency using a 10-key; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cash receipts and daily bank deposits; post to accounting system daily/weekly.
  • Obtain invoice payment approvals and post cash transactions to accounting system.
  • Maintain detailed cash receipts data and secure accounting documents at the site.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and reports for the Supervisor.
  • Prepare monthly reports detailing club sponsor transactions.
  • Monitor outstanding purchase orders; process online receipts via ALIO.
  • Process payroll data for the school site.
  • Cross-train with other staff and attend annual payroll/ALIO training.
  • Recommend accounting process improvements for student activity funds.

PURPOSE OF JOB: Performs business service functions for local funds collected and disbursed at the assigned school site according to published accounting procedures for student activity funds provided by Business and Finance.

What You'll Be Doing: (Responsibilities)

  • Adhere to the established chart of accounts for all transactions required to be processed in the student activity bank account and the ALIO financial system. Keep track of all student activity for the school in compliance with student activity
  • Prepare cash receipts for all money collected documenting the reason/purpose for the cash Make daily bank deposits as required. Post cash receipts to accounting system daily/weekly.
  • Obtain approval for payment of invoice as Post cash to accounting system daily/weekly.
  • Establishes and maintains detailed cash receipts data to support all bank deposits and approved detailed invoices to support all Maintain all accounting documents in a secured location at the school site.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and required reports to be submitted to the Supervisor.

To Be Successful at This Job, You'll Need To: (Qualifications)

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration and one year of meaningful bookkeeping experience OR 6 hours of college level Accounting courses and three years of meaningful bookkeeping experience.
  • A minimum of two years experience working in a computerized business Proficiency using personal computers and software applications including Windows, Excel, Access, Word, etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of a 10-key
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
