Job summary

East Greenbush Central School District is seeking substitute School Bus Drivers to operate a school bus on regular schedules or special occasions. You will check bus conditions, ensure safety, and inform children about safety practices while maintaining order.

Responsibilities include keeping mileage and route records, preparing route maps, and assisting handicapped students as needed. NYS driver's license eligibility and 21+ age are required.

Qualifications

• Eligible for the appropriate level New York State Driver’s License at the time of application.
• Possession of license at the time of appointment and maintenance throughout employment.
• Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.
• Good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws.

Responsibilities

• Operate a school bus on a regular schedule or on special occasions.
• Check operating conditions of the bus before starting on a trip and report defects.
• Inform children about safety practices and maintain orderly conduct on the bus.
• Maintain interior and exterior of vehicle; keep records of mileage, routes, times and incidents.
• Prepare and maintain maps of routes and pick-up points; assist handicapped students.
