Job summary

Andover Central School District is seeking a Substitute Bus Attendant for the 2026-27 school year. This position is as needed based on employee absence or the district's needs and focuses on student safety during transportation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
• Physical stamina and ability to assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including those with special needs.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and emergency protocols.
• Willingness to undergo background checks as required by state regulations or school district policies

Responsibilities

• Ensure student safety on board; assist with boarding/exiting and secure seating.
• Assist students with special needs, mobility, or behavioral challenges.
• Maintain discipline and follow district policies.
• Participate in de-escalation training and apply strategies.
• Respond to emergencies and follow safety protocols.
• Communicate with bus driver and staff; report incidents.
• Assist with pre-trip bus inspections; report safety issues.
• Keep daily records of routes, passenger counts, incidents.
• Participate in training and professional development
